Summer Camp
Curriculum During the Summer Camp
Theme: Bhavya Bhaarat (Grand India) – Brief Overview:
The Summer Camp is a cumulative program, with various themes based on different festivals as related to Bhaarat across the ten weeks.
The children will be exposed to some of the history and geography of Bhaarat to get a general idea of what it is as compared to where they live currently.
Our learning will involve learning bhajans, songs along with shlokaa chanting.
We will also learn about the International Day of Yoga, its origins, learn related shlokam and the benefits.
We will touch upon the work of the great luminaries of Bhaarat who contributed to the world with their amazing depth of wisdom, a lot of which is utilized by the world even today.
The mode of instruction will be in English. Both Samskrit and Hindi will also be practiced. The children are more adaptable and learn quickly during their early stages. This multilingual program will be an asset moving forward in this global world.
The children will practice public speaking skills by the presentation of the work they do.
There are many educational tools, books and games that will enhance their knowledge of a vast genre of subjects.
We will also have story time which is a favorite pastime of all and anyone. We will explore stories from Purana-s, Ramayana, Mahabharata or Panchatantra, and much more.
We will also do some hands-on projects involving cutting & pasting, drawing & coloring to improve soft motor skills.
We will be doing some enjoyable simple safe science experiments to sharpen observational skills and brainstorm the results (example – color chromatography for separation of colors, states of matter, reflection and refraction, creating a solar system, heartbeat observations, solutions and filtering of different materials, observing a water cycle, etc.).
Journal writing will be the core of the program, especially for grades 1-5, to increase learning of vocabulary, spelling, grammar, comprehension, analysing and writing skills. This would result in creating an anthology of their creative and joyful time in the Summer Camp – a treasure to cherish forever.
LOOKING FORWARD TO A SUPER SUMMER CAMP!!
Etiquette During the Summer Camp
The children will be in a safe, home-like environment (Ardenwood Area, Fremont).
After registration and payment of fees, an email will be sent to confirm along with the details of what needs to be brought to the camp. Most of the information is given here, which will help you to prep for the same.
We will follow strict guidelines as related to cleanliness to the extent possible with children:
Masks will be worn as necessary.
We will be cleaning up before and after we eat.
Jackets, socks and shoes will be needed when we go out to the park or go on nature walks. Extra pair of socks and clothes may be sent for emergency, just in case.
We follow strict vegetarian food. Please send in the same.
Every child will have their own water bottle, a hand towel (to mitigate use of paper and learn to be globally environmentally conscious) and a backpack to keep their things.
We may be taking occasional pictures or videos – to send to parents or to put up on the website. Please let us know if you have any objection. We will try to keep that in focus though cannot guarantee.
Please let us know beforehand if the child has any allergies, asthma, bloody nose, etc. or any other health related problems. Currently, we do not have facilities to cater to the special needs of children, if any.
Health Insurance information will be required when you arrive at the premises.
Please do not send the children if they are sick. This will be followed strictly.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation
